Sandplay

A transformational Journey

I knew from my initial training that sand tray therapy held a magnetism which, once connected was hard to repel.

I am privileged to be able to offer sand tray therapy in my own therapy room and when working with families, children and young people in schools and other settings. The work is based on the work of Jung and connects to current research on neuroscience

Sand tray gives clients the opportunity to work at a deeper level to explore aspects of themselves and their lives and come to find meaning.

Sand brings and ancient connection to the earth and the cosmos, sifting and moving the sand can provide positive change and regulatory feedback to stressed body systems.

Working in with symbols placed in the sand tray, symbolic meaning can be gained, giving deep insight and the potential for change at a neurological level. Children are often drawn to the sand as natural part of play. Older clients may choose to explore meaning through the symbolic creations made.

However the sand is used, each tray is unique and bring profound truths and change

A personal Journey

I first experienced sand tray in personal therapy and immediately realised the power of the experience, for it was in this process much was communicated and yet much left unsaid, words were not necessary.

The sand and symbols spoke a truth.

It has been a real pleasure to explore the power of sand tray and to complete training with the AIST and gain a Diploma in Integrative Sand tray Therapy.

At the time of this first powerful connection to sand, the foretelling depicted was unknown. It is only with hindsight, as is often the case, that the true meaning of this first experience of sand tray was realised.

This tray became a catalyst for change and allowed what needed to be shed to drop away and a new reality born.

A moment of transformation.

I continue to use sand tray in my personal journey and discovery and each time gain insight. It is a privilege to support others on their journeys through the sand tray.
