Starting Autumn 2026
A brief outline
A ten-week group based, guided programme that helps you, a become the main agent of change for your child.
Suitable for children aged from 3 to 11.
Built on the idea that the parent-child relationship is where healing happens. This course supports you to learn play-based therapeutic skills and use them at home in a weekly special playtime.
The focus is connection and understanding with your child, not techniques for controlling behaviour although the outcomes will support your child with emotional regulation, anxiety and social connection.
Each weekly training session is group based and includes: guided teaching, supported practice and role play, and supportive feedback.
Groups are small with a minimum of 4 and a maximum of 6 parents. Each session offers a positive and shared experience in a safe environment.
This course is based on the work of Gary Landreth and uses a filial model grounded in child centred play therapy and is Supported by the British Association of Play Therapists - BAPT
The weekly sessions will take place on Wednesdays, final dates to be confirmed.
From 7.00pm to 9.00pm at Bovey Tracey Football Club, Mill Marsh Park, St Johns Lane, TQ13 9FF.

What is included in the course fee?
You will receive a half an hour personal introduction session.
2 hours per week of training, facilitation, feedback and support from experienced Play Therapist and primary teacher Liz Butler.
Weekly handouts which form a complete handbook.
Support with developing a small play kit.

How much does it cost?
Consider this as an investment for your child or children and an investment for you and your whole family.
Introductory price £40 per 2 hour session per parent, total cost £400.
Deposit of £100 secures your place.
This can be paid in instalments.
All fees to be paid prior to the start of the course.
This course may be eligible for ASGF funding. Please enquire for further details.
The same fee would give 5 play therapy sessions.
